I have a scar and a permanent loss of function due to a work related injury. Do I get any additional compensation for this?
Yes, under §36 of the workers' comp law you are entitled to a onetime payment for certain scars on the hand, neck or face, and permanent loss of function. Normally you would reach an agreement with the insurance company to settle this compensation anywhere between nine months and a year from your date of injury. The delay is to let the scar or loss of function stabilize. If you can't reach an agreement with the insurer, you can file an employee claim, and get an appointment to be evaluated by a conciliator.
