Can the insurance company be fined for not paying my benefits on time? How much? Who gets the money?
Yes; if the DIA determines that an insurer has failed to pay or contest payment of a claim in a timely manner, under §7 (1), a $200 fine may be assessed, payable to the injured worker. Further delays in payment may result in additional fines, payable to the Workers' Comp Trust Fund.
